Under the instruction of Ministry of Economic Affairs and its Industrial Development Bureau, the Taiwan-Japan Industrial Collaboration Promotion Office, TJPO, forged an alliance with the Osaka Prefecture this year, making Osaka the 8th member to have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

MOU was signed by Lu Cheng-chin, Deputy Director of Information Technology Industries Division and CEO of TJPO, and Nishida Junichi, Director of Osaka Prefect. Gov., Dep. of Commerce, Industry and Labor, on October 3rd. Yang Chih-Ching, Deputy Director at Industrial Development Bureau, Lee Shi-Bing, Director of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Osaka, and officials of the Osaka Prefecture were also invited to witness the agreement. Both parties will continue to seek and explore opportunities for working relations in the field of biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry, electronics industry, and metal processing industry.

Under long-term development in Kansai area, TJPO has contributed to the investment in Taiwan by Panasonic Corporation and Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited, members of the Fortune Global 500. According to TJPO, numerous pillar companies gather in Osaka; over 14,000 companies, accounting for 8% of the number in Japan, second only to that of Tokyo. 65% of the industrial value derives from pillar companies, with unique technologies that have very large percentage among the world. We believe we can elevate the added value of both parties via the industrial collaboration of domestic corporations and Osaka Prefecture.

TJPO has established collaborative relations with 40 local governments or industrial organizations since its founding, and the process has been prudent and steady. Following 7 cities including Mie Prefecture, Kagawa Prefecture, and Kagoshima Prefecture, Osaka Prefecture is the 8th Japanese local government that signs MOU with TJPO, showing that our great effort has earned the recognition from Japan's local governments. In the future, TJPO will continue its diversified collaboration to intensify its relationships with Japan's local government and industrial organizations, and proactively contribute to companies' matchmaking between the two sides, creating a win-win situation for both Taiwan and Japan.
