Smart machinery helps traditional industries meet international standards with optimization and transformation

In order to promote the upgrading and transformation of domestic traditional industries,meet international trends and respond to the recent global industrial development being impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs promoted the Smart Machinery Industry International Integration Promotion Program to help the domestic manufacturing industry meet the intelligent manufacturing solutions of the International Communication Interface Standard by system integrators to enhance the international competitiveness of the industry and stay firmly in global supply chain market.
The project is mainly led by the system integrators (SI). They have developed smart manufacturing management software by themselves and are assisting domestic traditional industry manufacturers to integrate production line machines and equipment for networking and implementing international communication interface standards. The masters' processing experience and production parameters of traditional production line is digitalized to build smart production lines to realize smart and flexible production scheduling and processing, and have the capability to meet international standards.
On August 26th, 2020, the SI company Cimforce, which develops smart manufacturing software, and Boltun Precision Co., which manufactures metal buckles, co-hosted the exhibition of the achievements of Smart Machinery and International Exchange Activities at CENE and Boltun Precision Co.. Besides visiting the smart manufacturing assembly line at Boltun Precision Co., GM Shang-heng Hsieh from Boltun Precision Corporation, Director SannDenn YuuSaku from Taiwan's Fanuc Corporation, Director Chiung-hua Wang from Easun Precision Technology, and Director Li-sheng Pao from Taiwan Omron Corporation were invited to deliver keynote speeches on their successful experiences in adopting smart manufacturing.
The event showcases the advantages of flexible manufacturing systems brought by smart machinery production lines. By importing smart mold manufacturing management software, functions such as smart scheduling and processing program management are realized, which shortens the mold delivery time by 40% and increases the machine utilization rate to more than 85%. In addition, the human-caused product error during the manufacturing process and the equipment loss rate could be effectively reduced. The project assists the traditional mold machining industry to establish a good example of introducing smart machinery, activating Taiwan's traditional industries and seizing the leading position in global smart manufacturing output value with more outstanding competitiveness.
The exchange event was also a bridge for domestic companies to move toward smart upgrades and integrate with the international market. Domestic and foreign SI companies and related manufacturers shared the successful application experiences of smart manufacturing introduction via keynote speeches, and the guests were invited to visit Boltun Precision Corporation's smart production line. Manufacturers who are interested in digital and intelligent development could communicate with each other to accelerate the digital transformation of Taiwan's industries and promote the intelligent upgrading of the overall industry through this international exchange event.
