In the 2020/2021 Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards (APICTA Awards), the Taiwan delegation won four winner and 15 merit awards; ranking first among 260 teams and setting a record in Taiwan's participation in the competition. The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) held an appreciation party on January 14th and invited Vice Minister Chuan-Neng Lin to commend and congratulate the teams.

"Taiwan continues to expand into the global market despite the COVID-19 pandemic," said the Vice Minister, adding that Taiwan's exports reached US$405.7 billion by November of 2021, growing 30% compared to the previous year. ICT product exports increased by more than 25%, and the amount exported to ASEAN countries or New Southbound countries grew by over 30%. "Taiwan should integrate our long-lasting innovation strengths around hardware with new software to provide total solutions that shape the future market amid the growing needs of digital transformation. The APICTA Awards is a good starting platform. The Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) will introduce more mechanisms in conjunction with the New Southbound Policy to help Taiwanese companies create greater business opportunities and market outreach,"added Vice Minister Lin.

The four winner awards include "Smart Home Energy Optimizer" by Poweranch Inc., which integrates solar energy and energy storage systems, DoQubiz Technology, who built "Fractal Solution" with zero-trust structure, the first blockchain-certified "Turing Certs" by Turing Chain that serves over 80 institutions and schools, and National Central University's "Talkversity", the first communication training software built with Artificial Intelligence (AI).
