In order to assist mold industry's upgrading, transformation, and environmental improvement, Industrial Development Bureau under Ministry of Economic Affairs commissioned the Metal Industries Research and Development Center (MIRDC) to construct a smart stamping demonstration production line through the "Mold Industry Leading-in Smart Manufacturing Technology Promotion Project". The "Servo Presses and Smart Manufacturing Application Technology Seminar" was jointly held by MIRDC and SEYI company. The participating manufacturers included mainly 32 companies such as Delta, ASE, Advantech, Taiwan Mitsui High-Tech, Ruili, Yuili, Shih-hsiang, Huiyi, Chuanying Auto Parts, and Taiwan Sekiguchi. In addition, faculty members and students from Chen-Kung University, Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, and Hungkuo Delin University of Science and Technology participated in the event. The number of participants was close to 100.

The keynote speech of the seminar was given by Dr. Xu Guizhang from SEYI and Dr. Pinjun Chen from MIRDC. The speaker said that after customers began using servo presses and smart manufacturing systems, the stamping accuracy was effectively improved by 30-50%, and product yield increased. Compared with the traditional production line, it can reduce the stamping operation time by 30-50% and the mold replacement time by 20-40%, while saving about 30-50% of the electricity and reducing noise value by 20%. The MIRDC hopes to serve domestic industries to introduce mold development and smart manufacturing system, and effectively achieve industrial transformation goals such as high product value, smart manufacturing, and digital management.

In addition, the Industrial Development Bureau hopes that our mold industry will shift more towards high-quality oriented in the future to erase the old impression of "Taiwanese high quality but disproportionate low price" and create a new value "Taiwanese high-quality and reasonable price".
