In order to prepare the Metalworking Machinery Industry for digital transformation, high-standard product value, digitalized manufacturing and management visualization, the Value Adding Program for Digital Manufacturing Management, facilitated by the IDB (Industrial Development Bureau) in collaboration with ITRI (the Industrial Technology Research Institute), are contributing tailor-made assistance, including referring appropriate academic institutes (colleges/universities) to the metalworking machinery industry based on individual specific needs, and bridging manpower cultivation with the joint efforts of manufactures and academic institutes. The metalworking machinery industry is committed to transformation, and the supply of professional manpower for the coming generation sponsored by the IDB is like life-giving water.

With the Value Adding Program for Digital Manufacturing Management, 16 manufacturers, including steel mills (GMTC, Yieh United), the fastener industry (Racing Point, Chen Nan), foundry industry (CMP), hand tool industry (Infar), mold industry (Foxconn, Major) and so on, are matched up, and have allied with 19 colleges, including the National University of Kaohsiung, I-Shou University, National Formosa University, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, Ming Chi University of Technology and so on. The alliance has fostered talent from campuses, the rising stars of the metalworking machinery industry.

By means of seminars with practice training, enabling students to encounter face-to-face products and facilities on-site at manufacturers, the synergy with on-job instructors from the industries for curriculum planning in accordance with specific themes has effectively improved the students' substantive and technical skills through trouble shooting-oriented thinking, and made the academic institutes a resource of outstanding manpower closer to the industries. Such a win-win strategy has benefitted the industries with preemptive preparedness, the students with seamless employment upon graduation, and the academic institutes with their individual specialty development.

The IDB has established the collaboration platform for the industries and the academic institutes to guide the industries to campuses for potential manpower from the coming generation from appropriate academic institutes, accelerating digital transformation, as well as making the required technical skills regarding digitalization clear to student at an earlier stage. With seamless employment upon graduation as a positive result, a new prelude for the transformation of the metalworking machinery industry has been unveiled through joint efforts of the industries, the government, academic institutes and research units.
