台美產業合作推動計畫

廿一世紀是創新世紀，創新將引領未來，而眾所周知美國的創新能力舉世無雙，美國的創業活絡也是世界的翹楚，美國政府也一直致力推動先進製造和重振製造業；而在台灣，我們也在推動產業創新，這正好提供了很好的台美產業合作環境。

我們可以預見，隨著產業朝自動化、智慧化、數位化、高值化和科技化發展，台美產業合作的範疇會從貿易、技術取得、代工，擴大到共同研發、創新產業化、雙向投資、併購及專業人才交流，經濟部台美產業合作推動辦公室成立的目的，即在協助推動台美產業合作與連結，強化彼此的夥伴關係，創造雙方更大的價值與利益。

為有效促進台美產業合作，並推動創新產業化，進一步達成新政策目標，聚焦「亞洲‧矽谷」方案中的「物聯網」與「創新創業」為主，以智慧機械、晶片設計與半導體、綠能科技、生技醫藥產業為輔，鏈結美國創新能量，建構物聯網新創聚落平台，以創新創業驅動經濟成長，以物聯網促進產業轉型升級。

Throughout this time, the United States provided education, technology, capital, and market to Taiwan. In return, Taiwan supplied the United States with good quality and inexpensive products that satisfied vast numbers of consumers. This reciprocal model was one of the factors that made possible an economic miracle in Taiwan.The world economy has been experiencing major changes in the 21st Century, as globalization and the emergence of new economies substantially transform division of labor and competition. In the era of the knowledge economy, innovation becomes competitiveness. The industrial cooperation between Taiwan and the United States, as a result, is entering into a new chapter—commercialization of innovations.With a view to further facilitating the industrial cooperation between the two nations, the Taiwan-USA Industrial Cooperation Promotion Office (TUSA) was launched in August of 2012 under the auspices of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). The office aims to promote new industries by focusing on Smart Machinery, Green Energy Technology, Asian Silicon Valley, IC Design & Semiconductor, Biomedical Industry and by integrating the United States’ superior capability in innovation and Taiwan’s renowned ability in speedy commercialization of results from research and development. It is hoped that the endeavor will create a win-win situation for industries in both countries.
